September 20th was a great day in Durango, Colorado. The inagural River Run For Orphans rasied almost $10,000 for orphans around the world. We had a 1mile and 5k run/walk for all ages and abilities. In the two events, we totaled 180 participants. We had five orphan organizations represented that provided information and the opportunity to support children in need. A couple of days before the event a friend handed me an evelope with a $1,000 inside. That money will be going to Uganda to give 200 students one meal at school for almost 3 months. These children will now have food for their stomachs, minds and souls. We are now plannning for the next River Run For Orphans in 2009. This event can be duplicated in cities around our country.Each church or group can choose where their sponsor money goes. One young man had over $700 in sponsors.
